Privacy Practices — IC Zoom Recording NAS Pilot

Operator and purpose

Rob Knopper operates this private uploader to archive completed Zoom MP4 recordings available to his connected Zoom account. It is being configured for his own use; this page does not offer a public upload service or student replay access. Questions or requests can be sent to hello@robknopper.com.

Data used

When authorized and active, the uploader may read Zoom recording metadata and MP4 files available to the connected account, including private meetings. It will use Google Drive drive.file access for files it creates or opens in the owner-only Zoom Recordings intake. It does not search the rest of Rob’s Drive. It records a Zoom recording-file ID to Google Drive file ID mapping, plus limited transfer status and diagnostic logs, to reconcile and avoid duplicate uploads. Google sign-in authorization may supply access and refresh tokens for this limited operation.

How data moves and who can access it

The intended path is Zoom to Synology staging to the owner-only Google Drive intake. The existing Google Drive-to-Synology Cloud Sync task downloads remote changes to Rob’s NAS. The Drive intake is owner-only. NAS staging, credentials, and logs are intended for restricted operator access; their permissions will be checked before the pilot runs. The uploader does not sell data, use it for advertising, or automatically share recordings with students. Session Admin separately selects, renames, moves, and announces applicable student replays by hand.

Retention and deletion

When used, recordings and the ID mapping remain until the operator reviews and removes them according to his recordkeeping needs. Removing a Drive source file does not itself remove a copy already retained by the existing Synology download-only mirror. Staged files and logs require separate review and cleanup; this pilot does not run automatic deletion. Google authorization can be revoked in account settings to stop future access; revocation does not itself delete stored Drive or NAS copies. To request review or deletion of data controlled by the operator, contact hello@robknopper.com. Zoom, Google, and Synology may also process data under their own policies.

Security and changes

The app is intended to use only the permissions needed for this archive, with owner-controlled access to stored files and credentials. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. This page will be updated if the uploader’s behavior or data practices materially change.
